To get through the dialogue, there is a Next button at the bottom of the screen, or a Skip button at the top to move forward if you've already read the dialogue. THERE ARE 3 POSSIBLE ENDINGS TO ACHIEVE, so if you're wondering what happens in these separate scenarios, please try to get all of them, or watch some of the full playthroughs some of the commenters have provided.
Maybe if I take the shortcut through the alleyway it won't be so bad, at least I'll get home sooner.... right?
Kaerimashou is a short game about walking home together alone. Help guide Yu to the end of the shortcut so he can get home.

I loved playing this game. The girl is definitely creepy and a yandere who creeped me out. The gameplay of her chasing you was very suspenseful.

To me the scariest part is that you can clearly see her when you turn around.

Hi Strawberry, what a wonderful little game, I played it as a Valentine’s Special and had a lot of fun with it. Loved the different endings and the gameplay was also interesting. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get all three endings but it worked out fine, the learning curve is just the right amount of challenging. Oh, and Miyu’s “face” was absolutely fantastic, I loved it.
The only thing I noticed was that Yu really needed to face 100% forward to move and sometimes he looked like he was facing ahead but it needed a smidge to the left or right for him to continue. A wider margin when facing ahead to keep moving might have helped so it didn’t feel like Yu was stuck.
BUT, that being said, it wasn’t a big problem, I only mentioned it since you asked for constructive criticism and that was really the only thing I noticed. Otherwise this played great. The ability to skip the conversation made it so much easier to play again for different endings. Many smaller games don’t do this, so I really appreciated it.
This game honestly gave me chills, and i love that!
I do love me some Yandere, combine this with a visual novel and I'm all in! Great work on this short horror game, love the different endings.

How long was the development phase for this game?
The super bare-bones prototype was done as an assignment for one of my classes in about a week or so. I started fleshing out and working on this idea after New Years' day and finalized/released it on January 25th. So I'd like to say this took around 3 weeks. Thanks for asking ☺️

I do! It's a really good field of study, even tho you can learn quite a bit about game development online, I think the perspectives and experiences from my professors and classmates make it even more worth it.

That was... a little too close for comfort. You're lucky that at least the anime girl is not bad looking, just a little crazy. Imagine if she looks like... say... a horse then you have a completely different feel of the game LOL

I was blown away by how effective this game is. The premise is pretty straightforward, but it’s so much more than trying to get home. The mix of gameplay and story details makes Kaerimashou terrifying and charming at the same time. Miyu in particular, despite having a bit of an attachment issue, is both terrifying and likable. I’d love to see this idea expanded upon, with more endings and story scenes. Not that the provided endings aren’t enough — they chilled me to the bone — but I love the idea of trying to change my fate through hidden paths. Either way, Kaerimashou is excellent!

Loved the story, it had my attention the whole time. I didn't know there was multiple endings when I was recording( my b) but there was a little part that actually spooked me, looking forward to your other games thx for this short adventure.

I didn't expect to find a hidden gem around here... The game is pretty good, the way that she stalks you is pretty creepy, and I just loved the mechanic of the game, for some reason I just loved, I'm glad that I played this, I was going to ignore it but for some reason I wanted not only to play the game but to also record it, good luck with the game!
